Suddenly, the dons drop their otherĭeadly dhandas to deal with crimes of passion instead (unbelievable!). The rogue turns Romeo with obsession, but she’s already Aslam’s chosen ‘item’. Their ‘ bhaihood’ is bullet-proof, only until years later when starlet Jasmine (Sonakshi) walks in and arrests Shoaib with her charm and gullibility. Shoaib picks up young Aslam (Imran) from the chawls and takes him under his wing. Of course, Mumbai city wrapped in glam, glory and blood-soaked crime files is still fancied by the bhais (“ Samundar ke baad Mumbai Shoaib se jani jaati hai!”). If only the director had poured in more substance, and actors displayed a more subtle coolness, the movie would have worked wonders. After Shoaib (Akshay) vanquishes his own gang-guru (in the prequel), he becomes the reigning mafioso with his terror squad spreading far and wide. Cool dialogs will make it bearable for you to watch the movie. All in all, it's a total time-pass movie. She gives a better performance than the rest of the crew combined. I particularly liked the the scene where Imran and Akshay are jumping from roof to roof. They more than make up for the lack of substance in between. And the beginning & climax of the movie are awesome. More than half of them doesn't make sense, but are nevertheless very cool. Sonakshi couldn't reprise the charm she displayed in Lootera. I really couldn't understand why the director took him in first place. He delivers some really cool dialogs, but you can't help but wonder if he's actually Rowdy Rathore and not Shoaib! Yup, his dialog delivery is exactly the same as it was in Rowdy Rathore. Akshay Kumar lacks the charisma of Emraan Hashmi. The key problem in this movie is everyone's trying so hard to be cool, that it doesn't work. He broke his stereotype serial kisser image and emerged a winner as the deadly don. However, it was Emraan Hashmi who immortalized the movie. Ajay Devgn was perfect in his larger than life role. While the 2010 original was awesome, this one is mediocre at best. Milan Luthria's sequel to the classic movie is a big let down.
